Järvestä järveen swimrun

By Kristiina Vaano

Järvestä järveen swimrun – also known as lake to lake swimrun – will take place at Luukki (Espoo) on the 13th of August 2017. Participants will follow a clearly marked course alternating between running and swimming from lake to lake.

The Start and Finish will be at the beautiful park of Luukki Mansion. The course length is approximately 13 km covering 7 lakes with a total swim distance of 2.2km. The course is divided into 11 swimming sections where the longest swimming distance is around 500m.

The course is beautiful and diverse. Running sections include technical trails as well as faster sections. The lakes are all different shapes and sizes. The race is to be done in a team of two (i.e. women, men or mixed).

The event is perfect for both sport enthusiast and top athletes – the pace is your choice. You can either take your time and simply enjoy the Finnish nature or you can challenge yourself to be the fastest team of the day. Spectators may gather along the Kaitalampi lakefront and Luukki area to watch and support the competitors.

The spirit of Järvestä järveen swimrun is unique and cheerful and competing is fun. Together – event participants, volunteers and the audience – we will create an awesome, memorable experience.

Swimrun is a relatively new sport in Finland but its popularity is growing fast. Last year we already had international participants in the race who praised the combination of practicing sport in Finnish nature, fresh air and clean water. This sport is a real tribute to the Finnish nature- after all, Finland is known as the land of thousand lakes. This year we are a part of Finland’s 100 year–celebration program.
